About the Role

Mike Bashore Agency is looking for an energetic, relationship-focused Customer Service Representative to join our growing team.

This role is approximately 80% customer service and 20% relationship development and sales. You will help existing customers manage their insurance, solve problems, understand coverage and billing, navigate claims, and identify opportunities where we can better protect their household.

We are open to both experienced insurance professionals and high-potential candidates who are new to the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Assist customers by phone, text, and email
  • Process policy and account changes
  • Explain billing, coverage, and renewal questions
  • Assist customers with claims and service concerns
  • Complete underwriting and account follow-up
  • Build strong relationships with existing customers
  • Identify cross-sell and financial services opportunities
  • Ask for referrals and customer reviews
  • Manage daily tasks, follow-up, and customer expectations
  • Help create an exceptional overall customer experience

Licensing & Qualifications

A Michigan Property & Casualty insurance license is required before the first day of employment.

Previous insurance experience is not required.

A Life & Health license is preferred.

Education

  • High school diploma required
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience, attitude, communication skills, and aptitude are highly valued
For candidates new to insurance, the agency reimburses the cost of one approved licensing course and one exam after 30 days of employment.

Training & Career Growth

New employees participate in a structured 90-day onboarding program that includes training modules, shadowing, one-on-one coaching, and gradually increasing customer responsibilities.

Our team receives regular coaching from agency leadership along with formal performance and development reviews.

We are especially interested in candidates who want to grow into future team leadership or management roles.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $35,000–$45,000 base salary based on experience

Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM.

This is primarily an in-office position with occasional hybrid flexibility when appropriate.

Team members may also participate in optional evening networking opportunities and approximately 1–2 weekend community events each year.

This position is employment with Mike Bashore Agency, an independently operated State Farm agent office, and is not employment with State Farm corporate.

Compensation $35,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
